Quarriers
Quarriers is a Scottish charity providing practical support and care for children, adults and families. We challenge poverty and inequality of choice, to bring about positive change in people's lives.
There are six key areas to Quarriers' work:
-
Adults and children with a physical or learning disability - through residential care or assistance to live in their own homes, in a small community, or with another family.
-
Children and families facing poverty, family breakdown, exclusion and disadvantage - through family centres which offer parents personal support, practical advice, improved parenting skills, adult education and home visiting.
-
Young people who find it difficult to cope with mainstream school or with growing up - through schools and programmes for children with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.
-
Homeless young people - through befriending and a place to live whilst they develop the necessary skills and confidence that will enable them to move on to independent living.
-
People with epilepsy - through a network of Epilepsy Fieldworkers who support people to live with the day-to-day reality of epilepsy. Quarriers also has the only specialist residential centre in Scotland for people requiring assessment or diagnosis for their condition.
- Carers of all ages needing support, advice or just a friend to listen to them - through drop-in centres for carers and residential or family-based respite care services for the children or adults they look after.
Quarriers has projects in more than 120 locations across Scotland and in 2004 opened our first projects in Bath, England. We also work in partnership with Taganka Children's Fund in Moscow and Saathi in Kathmandu.
Registered Charity No. SCO01960.
